Do you have a pest cntrol problem in your home? If so, you are not alone. Pests are an issue for millions of other families. There are things you can do, though, to address the issue. You do not have to be a victim. Read these tips to finally tackle the problem.
If you are concerned that you have bed bugs, do not try to remove your mattress from your home. Dragging it through the house is likely to spread the infestation. Instead, keep everything stored in that one location. You can add a “bed bug cover” to the mattress to try and contain the problem, although you will need to be seen by a pest control specialist.
Sweep your kitchen and dining room floors and wipe your counter tops every day. Even small crumbs or bits of dropped food can attract ants, roaches and other pests. It is a good idea to empty the garbage each day. Trash can be a breeding ground for house and fruit flies.
Eliminate pests naturally. Sometimes you don’t need to resort to chemicals to control pests. Removing sources of water, food and shelter is one way to get rid of them. This is particularly effective in the case of rodents. If you have pets, don’t leave food or water bowls outside, and ensure that you don’t have any holes or cracks in the exterior of your home.
Are you dealing with ants? Use borax and sugar to terminate them. They will be attracted to the sugar, but the borax will be deadly. To make it, simply get a quart jar and put in one cup of borax with a cup of sugar. Put the mixture in a jar with holes punctured into the top, then shake it over baseboards and over your home’s foundation.
Bugs and other types of pests love clutter. It gives them lots of shelter and places to hide. When you reduce the amount of clutter in and around your home, you are reducing the habitat for these pests. Remove old clothes, books, boxes, and other clutter from around your home to reduce your chances of an infestation.
Don’t keep food out. Every time you make a meal, make sure to cover it and even better, put it in the refrigerator or an air-tight container. Animals are better at smelling than people are, and if they smell something tasty, they are going to come looking for it. Make sure you don’t leave food out too long.
If you’ve got pets, avoid mouse or rat poison. If your pet finds a dead rodent and eats it, it could ingest the poison. You should also avoid these poisons if you have small children. Kids may think the pellet is candy.
Use the tips here that work for your specific problem. Handling a pest problem may actually turn out to be easier than you think. You can turn a professional service, or you can tackle it yourself. Whatever the case, you no longer have to sit passively as pests take over your life.
